There are literally thousands of people everyday who decide they want to get “rich” in internet marketing. There are hundreds of thousands who are already involved in one way or another. You may even be one of those. Most business owners believe they have the entrepreneurial mindset for success, but do they? Are they chasing dreams or building dreams? There is a vast difference in the two. And even those of you who have invested time and money into big name programs may end up dream chasing if you are not careful. So exactly what is the difference?

Dream Chasing – Try to Catch a Cloud

Dream chasers are those who are in pursuit of something they never catch. They like the idea of making easy money online with little time or effort invested. They may have bought a membership to a marketing training system or coaching program and are ready to launch their business full force;  at least until the next “bright, shiny object” flashes by that grabs their attention and throws them off course like “Hammy” from “Over The Hedge”. Without a clearly defined business plan it’s too easy to get sidetracked by the next “get rich quick scheme” that pours into your inbox.  Their dream – to work from home, create their own schedules, and get rich… is not based in reality.

But sadly, this is often where the dream ends. A Dream Chasers day is often filled with web surfing, email mismanagement, bouncing from IMs to text messages, maybe a few phone calls, and before they know it, the day is gone…can you relate to?  No plan, wasting minutes and hours bouncing from one small thing to another and before you know it another day has gone by unproductive?  This isn’t a business…it’s a hobby.

Or you have the Dream Chasers who’ve spent too much time studying “The Secret” and the “Law of Attraction” without understanding the importance of “The Law of Action”.  They have every intention of creating a successful business but don’t understand the importance of “getting into action” every day to make it happen.  You can dream and think about what it is you desire (your clearly defined goals) all day long but without clearly defined, daily action steps to put your plan into motion, you’re doing nothing more than chasing a dream.

Dream Building – Hammering & Sawing to Success

Dream building takes hard work and lots of it. Yes, you need to have a goal and you have to visualize what you want but there is much more to it than that. You have to be committed to the daily tasks that are necessary in order for you to be a success. You have to lay out a plan for yourself and you have to stick to it every single day. If something comes up that can’t be avoided, handle it and get back on your schedule.

Don’t let distractions throw you off your success path for good.  If you have another job, work out a schedule that gives you some work time in the evenings and weekends. Whatever time you have to devote to your business, be it two hours, six, or twenty, devote yourself to those hours. One of the most important entrepreneurial characteristics is persistence, devoting yourself tirelessly to the end goal. Dream building means plodding along every day doing the mundane things that need done. Don’t sit around and stare at your dream board all day; work your plan efficiently, be persistent, tackle all obstacles head first, and watch your dreams come true.

Helping Build the Dream

There are things everyone can do to help build their dreams whether they are new to internet marketing or whether they have been at it for some time.

Set goals for each day, each week, each month and each year. Re-evaluate those goals frequently. Plan your day so you work as efficiently as possible. Make a to-do list and write down it. Outsource and automate where you can and as much as your finances will allow you.  These strategies will enable you to see your dreams actually grow into something tangible instead of being far off visions like a mirage in the desert. This is the true entrepreneurial mindset.

If you had five minutes to talk to the gurus of internet marketing and were able to ask them to give you one short key to success I can almost guarantee you it would be list building. Success on the internet doesn’t happen overnight and it takes hard work and dedication. And one of the main things you should be focusing on is building a list and creating a strong database that centers on YOU, not around a particular business or product. You want your list to be full of people who trust YOU and follow YOU.

Let me explain why this is so fundamental to internet marketing success.

Building a List

Many times, those of us who are involved in making money on the internet want to do things the easy way. We think we can simply create a website, tell people about the wonderful product or service we are offering, and sit back and cash the checks. Sounds great, doesn’t it? And true, you may get some sales from a few people who opt in to your email list but it will never, alone, create wealth for you. You have to build a list of potential customers by providing value and building a relationship with them. And that trust has be with you and what you can offer, NOT the company or product you are offering. Now don’t get me wrong. You have to offer them something of value in your product and/service and stand behind it’s performance. Become the “trusted expert and advisor” in your niche, the leader.

Changing with the Times

Let’s look at an example.  Let’s say you’re in MLM network marketing and you’re in the “best company in the world” (don’t all networkers believe this?) Your goal is to build a list of people interested in your primary opportunity and sign them up. So you go about promoting nothing more than your wonderful company and it’s products/services and because of your hard work and persistence, you actually begin building a list and growing your team.  You’re now generating a decent income from this one source of revenue when you get a call from the company heads and they’ve decided to shut down the network marketing arm of their business.  You’ll pick up your last check Friday and that’s it, your income is gone!

As horrible as this sounds, it actually happened recently with a company called iLearningGlobal. Their distributors woke up one morning to discover the company was totally cutting out that portion of the business. Think of what happened to the many reps who spent hours building a database promoting that company alone. They were left with nothing. But what if your prospects “joined you” instead of the company because you provided such immense value, above and beyond the company and it’s products? The difference could literally be a life saver.

Building Trust

Although the ultimate goal is of course to live financially free [not everyone has money as the motivator], you need to develop your list of qualified prospects wanting what you have to offer. So, deliver your subscribers lots of free information to help them grow their business as well as personally develop. Direct them to other educational resources and training.  Become a leader worthy of followers!  Put the time and energy into writing value-packed emails and conducting training courses that benefits them and demonstrates you’re not out to take their money and run. Build rapport and trust! This kind of list building is part of a marketing system that works!

When you provide your subscribers with genuine value, they will buy your products, become raving fans and promoters of your business, and follow you to the moon.

“I would like to know what is Mike’s opinion on Chinese silver Panda & their extra premium…sign of futures economical relation with Chinese?”

Continuing from our mastermind meeting, Michael Maloney answers question #5:

“Any coin that has a premium you get back when you sell it back to a dealer is fine. Gold and silver Eagles, that is the case. Chinese Pandas, you’re going to lose some of that premium when a dealer buys it back.

I believe in buying gold and silver as close to spot as possible with the exception of the extra premium you pay for some government coins because they have another “desirability” factor and that’s something called, 1099-B reporting. I don’t want to get into that on this video, but because of that they’re more highly sought after.

When silver fell from 21 bucks in March 2008 all the way down to about $9.50 in November, there was a big shortage that happened. During that shortage, the Eagles developed a premium beyond the premium the U.S. Mint charges. They were on eBay when silver was just $9.50 spot price, Eagles were selling for $35 bucks an ounce. 100 ounce bars were selling for $18 an ounce. So, you’re talking double the premium for 100 ounce bars.

So, I like Eagles because I do think they are going to develop a premium when there’s a rush on gold and silver, and when everybody wants it. They’re going to go for more and you’re going to get even more. The extra premium you’re spending, you’re not just going to get it back, but it’s going to grow with the price of the precious metals when you’re talking about gold and silver Eagles.

As for the Pandas go, they’re really pretty. Go ahead and buy them because you like them…but, unless a dealer is offering you the same amount of premium above the cost of other items he is purchasing (you can check this online), then I don’t recommend them.

“Someone whose opinion I respect says they personally hold their gold, and do not have it in a safe deposit. Is that wise? How could one possibly secure it in that way and feel that they had done a good job?”

Continuing from our mastermind meeting, Michael Maloney answers question #4:

“Well, I don’t recommend doing one thing or another. What I do is tell everybody to do their own due diligence and do some research on these things and come to their own conclusion.

For me, I do not use a safe deposit box.

I hold the bulk of my precious metals at a third party depository that specializes in doing that and it’s fully insured…and, that’s Brinks Security. The rest I hold myself. You can do a whole lot of creative things. You can hide it creatively. You can put it in a floor safe or a wall safe or something like that. I don’t recommend one particular thing over another.

I do know that during 911 the banks were closed for an entire week. I also know after gold was nationalized in 1933, the government posted Federal agents at the banks to observe people taking things out of their safe deposit boxes. I also know that when you put it in a safe deposit box it is not insured. FDIC insurance only applies to deposits in checking accounts and savings accounts. It does not cover anything in a safe deposit box. So, you need to add that to your homeowners insurance, it’s a rider on your homeowners insurance.

And, I also know some horror stories…

After a certain number of years, if you don’t have contact with the bank, the bank is supposed to turn the contents of safe deposit boxes over to the state. The state liquidates those and adds it to the general fund to help offset the deficit.

There was a newspaper article about a lady up in the Bay area in California. Her husband was dying, he told her to go to the safe deposit box to get the will, and when she went to the bank the contents were turned over to the state a few years earlier…and this was at her bank where her checking account was. She was paying the bills on that safety deposit box every month. They turned it over to the state. In there was also a bunch of her grandmother’s jewelry that was left to her that had been appraised about $80,000 before she put it in the safe deposit box years earlier. When she got back, when she tracked all of this down, the papers had all been shredded and she got a $1,800 check from the state for the contents.

My office manager and her safe deposit box…her branch closed, they moved the safe deposit box, and the bank basically lost her safe deposit box for a month. They couldn’t find what branch it was transferred to. And so, I don’t really trust safe deposit boxes that much myself.

So, I don’t use them.

You have to decide what’s best for you, though. If you’ve got a decent quantity of precious metals, if it’s more than $25,000 or $50,000, then I do suggest having some of it at a storage facility, a depository.
